1723 S
Project name: 1723 S
Address: Michigan, USA
Total QTY: 8,000 sqm
The 1723S Michigan project in Chicago features a 12-story hotel-style apartment building with approximately 8,000 square meters of window wall. Designed by Gensler, the building showcases a stylish exterior with aluminum panels, glass partitions, and railings. It utilizes REXI's UW180 window wall system, meeting structural and insulation requirements while realizing the architect's vision. This project marks the first to apply the window wall system to the glass sections of the floor-to-floor structural beams, achieving the effect of a glass curtain wall facade.
The UW180 system completed Performance Mock-Up (PMU) testing, compliance with AAMA 501 standard. The system was developed by the REXI R&D design team in six months, creating over 100 sets of aluminum profile molds. To improve air-tightness and water-tightness, auxiliary materials, including rubber strips and gaskets, were produced from customized materials. The system can be configured to accommodate the specific climate and operational conditions of the project location, ensuring compliance with design performance requirements while maximizing cost savings and reducing carbon emissions.
The UW180 window wall system is an advanced curtain wall system available for the USA market. It facilitates concurrent construction alongside civil engineering and other trades throughout the project, significantly reducing the overall construction timeline.
